As per the Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA), the packaging and accessories sector contributes significantly to the country’s economy, with a noteworthy value addition of approximately 40%, totaling 350 billion Taka. In the fiscal year 2021-22, this sector played a crucial role in generating revenue, contributing about US$ 7.67 billion through both deemed and direct exports. Of this total, approximately $1.0 billion was attributed to direct exports. Looking ahead, BGAPMEA has ambitiously set an export target of $12 billion by the conclusion of 2025, reflecting the sector’s commitment to sustained growth. Notably, the global packaging market is currently valued at approximately $700 billion, as highlighted by BGAPMEA, showcasing the sector’s substantial role in the broader international market.
